Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education
The aims of this subject are to enable students to become:
-
Successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve
-
Confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
-
Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society
It is split into
-
Economic wellbeing and Financial capability.
-
Personal wellbeing
Education for economic wellbeing and financial capability aims to equip each student with the knowledge, skills and attributes to make the most of changing opportunities in learning and work.
Personal wellbeing helps young people embrace change, feel positive about who they are and enjoy healthy, safe, responsible and fulfilled lives. This includes recognising that healthy lifestyles and the wellbeing of self and others, depends on information and making responsible choices.
Understanding that physical, mental, sexual and emotional health, affect our ability to lead fulfilling lives, and there is help and support available when these are threatened.
The school has regular visits from the school nurse Angela Scull, and the CHAT centre is available for confidential discussions.
We also have the services of a Relateen councillor who attends school every week.
The whole PSHEE/Citizenship course is taught in form groups by Form Tutors and is structured, interactive and inclusive. Regular homework and assessments are an integral part of the work.
