Student Senate
The Student Senate is an elected student body, voted for in democratic elections, promoting Fundamental British Values. Each year group is represented by two or three students who act as a conduit between the senior leadership team and the student body. Students work closely with Mrs Saul, Mr Hignett, the wider senior leadership team and the school governors. Last year the inaugural elections were held and the Senate established quickly being used by the student body as their voice. Senators regularly drop into tutor groups, hold surgeries and survey students to gather opinions and data to present in meetings with other stakeholders. The priority for 2024/ 2025 is to contribute to the personal development and leadership potential of the student body by reviving the House Captain role of increasing the prominence of the house system. The aim of this is to promote student inclusion and opportunities for students to get involved in the wider school curriculum and cultural capital.
Upon election, our Senators receive a Lakelands Core Values badge to represent and celebrate their work in supporting the leadership of our school. This badge was chosen to celebrate the qualities of these individuals and how they epitomise what it is to be a 'Lakelander.'
